can’t read my whisker face

My weekly round-up.

This weekend I gouged myself in cheese. Went to a baby shower that included cheese and grilled cheese sammiches. Also had grilled cheese from The Roosevelt. CHEESE WEEKEND!

I also “splurged” (as the French say) and bought myself a Wii Fit with lime green cover as pictured below (minus the weird bracelet):

41fs6eoacwl_sl500_aa280_I figured this will help towards my goal of buying new clothes once I reach my short-term goal weight. I have not bought a piece of clothing since I grew out of my old clothes (minus a cheap and uber-cute dress from Modcloth). I’m suffering though old and unfashionable clothes until I lose 6 more pounds (making the total 15 pounds), which at the rate it is going, will be by Christmas time. Lame, considering I’m working my butt off and eating way less (despite the weekend cheese binge, really I am eating a LOT less)! It is also very hard for me because I love to buy new clothes! But I have noticed a difference despite the slow decent into weight loss. My love handles have decreased significantly, which is promising, because that is where I actually started to see my first stretch marks…ever. I’m hoping to reverse these marks before it’s too late. Lots of St. Ives Exfoliating Body Scrub!

crest-white-strips-classicMy other change would be my chompers! The night after my dentist appointment I started using Crest White Strips. it is now almost a week later (into a 2 week stint) and my teeth are slightly (but unnoticeable to most naked eyes) whiter. However, they are whiter than they have ever have been in my entire life and that is exciting! I am pretty sure my teeth grew in stained and tinged yellow. I’m using the “classic” Crest Whitestrips. They don’t hurt my teeth or gums, and come highly recommended.

Oh, and Bobby found a job worthy of his credentials, which means VACATION IS ON THE HORIZON. I am more than excited!

And I’m spent.

I’m bluffin’ with my muffin

I am posting live from my couch on my lovely Wednesday off from work. I took a day off in order to get my teeth cleaned and a cavity filled. The filling literally took 5 minutes, sans novocain. The entire visit was 45 minutes. I took a whole day off for that?! Oh well, it gave me the chance to sleep in, go to the gym, and go to the store as well. Just takin’ it easy. I still have to go back in June for two crowns that I’m having them do in one visit. I’ll probably have to take a day off for that one considering they will be numbing up both sides of my face. Oh wells.

Unfortunately, with micromanaging worming its way into the workplace, I am no longer able to update at work, which stinks because that is when I have the most “I’M FREAAAAKING BOREDDDDD, HELPPPP!” free time. It’s not that I’m unable to access my site, because I actually can. It’s not blocked by the filter. But, they have been sending out nasty e-mails and CC’ing a bunch of upper-up’s when someone goes to an unblocked site that isn’t “business related,” and I rather not have my little blog on blast for the CEO to see. However, I will keep visiting mahnsterdesign.com in hopes they will send a nasty e-mail and everyone will go to Bobby’s site and he will get more work! ;)

My weekend was filled with restlessness. I was so bored, almost bored enough to go to Target twice or see a movie. :P I managed to clean some of the computer room. I was so bored I even tried to play basketball with Bobby at the park across the street. That lasted about 10 minutes. However, we did take Lil on a walk to the new park across the street from the YMCA to see the “flying butthole net” sculpture (AKA “Her Secret is Patience”), which actually looks pretty cool when it is lit up at night. It’s a nice park, and will make an excellent rest spot for bums evicted from Patriot’s Square.

It’s Earth Day, and to celebrate I’m going to purchase some cute little reusable totes on sale from ModCloth. Since they are cute and I’m investing more than a dollar on them I think I’ll be more likely to use them.

Oh and it’s Trivia Night as well. My fave. Peace out!

Tena’s Simple Pleasures

Welcome to the first installment of Tena’s Simple Pleasures. I’m a hard gal to please, but I am calmed by some of the simplest things. As I think of said things, I will post and link to the category aptly named “Tena’s Simple Pleasures.”

1. Saturday morning workouts while watching “Saved by the Bell.”

2. Filling up my gas tank while on the clock at work.

Untitled No.1

product_imageThis past Saturday was spent looking in several stores for the perfect cookware set. With every set there was a reason to hate it. And in the middle of the search I got crabby, so we ate at Postino again. But finally, in the last place we looked, we found a great deal on the perfect set for all our cooking needs! Calphalon take me away. With the money saved, we also bought a matching bakeware set, oven mitt, and over-sized kitchen towel. Our kitchen is totally Calphalon decked out. I imagine our next purchase will be a matching set of knives, since I like everything to be coordinated. And, unlike all the old IKEA gear, it receives the special treatment of hand washings. That night we tested it out and had shrimp, a-spary-guys, and wild rice. Yummy, no black flakes from the pan in sight.

In other news, I have heard one of the worst lyrics evar. It is brought to you by Jamie Foxx, and it goes a little something like this:

“Fill another cup up, feeling on your butt-what?”

I’ve been working out hard lately (well, hard on my level). Each time I take a break from regular exercise, when I come back to it I’m able to work out longer and better. It’s weird. So this is my second week of regular exercise, and I’ve gotten up to 6 miles in 25 minutes on the bike (on the random resistance setting) and 2 miles in 25 minutes in the elliptical (random resistance, again). That’s pretty good for someone that has no exercise tolerance what-so-ever. But we will see what happens, after about 3 or 4 weeks of this, I end up hating it and don’t go back for about 2 to 3 weeks. It’s pretty regular, now that I think about it. I’m sure my body is used to this pattern by now.

Trivia night tonight (and tomorrow, apparently), hooray! Christ Punchers! :)

No more cats.

kittiesIt’s official, the cats are now banned from the bedroom. We had this trial period where we kept the door open at night so they could sleep on the bed. But after several things that have gone missing from the bathroom, a cut on my foot, and (GROSS) a dried up piece of poop on our freshly made bed the left me screaming for about a minute, their privileges have been rescinded and the door will be closed from now on.

Sorry guys!

Recappin’, my captin

SO….last Tuesday didn’t really feel like a day off at all. I spent about 2 hours in the dentist chair cleaning half of my teeth. That’s right, only half. I need to go back in a few weeks to clean the other half and also get a filling (meaning I have to use my PTO…poppycock!). Yeah, my teeth are gross. Good news is I don’t need dentures! After the filling, I only need two crowns, and I’m set. Luckily for me, I have one of those pre-paid debit cards with $1000 on it (coming out of my paycheck little by little, of course) which basically pays for all of this. However, I was planning on getting braces with it this year, so that will have to wait till next year. Maybe by then I can save more money and get the Invisalign shtuff.

Sunday was nice. Bobby & I started out at La Grande Orange where we split a Commuter breakfast sammich. Then went to Target where I bought myself a cute little jacket on clearance for $20. We bought a strawberry plant, which I’m pretty excited to see how it works. We bought enough soap and cleaning stuff to last us for awhile, I hope. And also, in hopes of getting my teeth whiter, we bought Listerine Whitening Mouthwash. It better work because it tastes like poo-poo! Next week I’ll go back and get some whitening strips to try. I also saw a pretty nice set of pots & pans I would like to get with my paycheck as well, and for a good price too. Unfortunately, no nice food processors for cheap. :/

Afterwards, we went to the Apple Store to see if they had cases for the laptop, which they did for $50, so I politely walked out of the store without one. We headed over to Red Hot Robot & Frances just for kicks. I bought a cooooool little case that looks like a Hostess Cupcake and also a little bird for Bobby (which I think the cats will end up liking more than him). I was curious to see if the new Postino Central had opened up, so we passed it, saw it was open, I decided I was hungry, and in we went. It’s was meant to be because the soup of the day was Potato Cheddah. So we each had a soup and split a sammich yet again.

After lounging around the house for a bit, we went to Tempe Marketplace to try and find some nice shoes and a tie for Bobby’s big interview today (Monday). After finding those, we went to Target & Best Buy to try to find a food processor to no avail. We also went to Bath & Body Works where we got a new air diffuser thing for our room. The scent is supposed to be “Fresh Bamboo” but it just smells like flower petals or something. Good none-the-less.

At this point I was super cranky, so we went to the store and got some dinner stuff for Sunday & Monday. We had Ravioli with vodka sauce (YUMMY) and watched Religulous which was interrupted half-way when I showed Bobby this video:

And we LOL’ed.

I also decided I’m not eating any fast food for a year. By then, it will be out of my system and I will never eat it again.

Today I work late, but will try to go to the gym-gym while Bobby makes the din-din.

The End.
